This ride was up to Texas World Speedway, just outside College Station, for a day of motorcycle racing. We took in the sights and sounds of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) sprint races.
The ride started at Denny's at US 290 and FM 1960. We took US 290 out a ways then used some back roads to work our way to Navasota. Three riders were enjoying a spirited ride out ahead, but missed one of the turns. Really missed it...by some 15 miles! Bobby S. chased after them through the many curves at speeds I won't repeat here. He finally caught up with them and brought them back on course. But not until after a light rear-ender from a Hyabusa, and a little "off-road excursion." Meanwhile the leader pressed on to meet John G. and his son Andy, who joined the ride at Navasota. We all finally met up at Texas World Speedway and enjoyed some good motorcycle racing and the track concession stand's over-priced burgers. Some returned to Houston in the early afternoon, the rest stayed until later. All in all, nice weather, good roads and great racing.
