Today's ride was a club favorite: through the forests along the Montgomery Trace, out along the twisties of FM 3090, then down FM 362 and FM 1488 for some sweeping curves. We were favored with stunning weather in the mid-60s—a far cry from the below-freezing temperatures two weeks earlier, when the ride was first scheduled.
The day began with breakfast at IHOP. From there we rode the back way towards Montgomery, then up the Montgomery Trace to Anderson. We rested there briefly, watching the hordes of bikes out on a warm winter day. Then it was onward to FM 3090, a 15-mile stretch of technical twisties. The only real twisties in southeast Texas. We regrouped in Navasota, then headed down FM 362 and FM 1488 towards lunch, at the Waller County Line BBQ. From there is was a straight shot back into Houston on US 290. All in all, a great January day and a promise of the rides to come throughout 2010.
